Sara Sharples
Sara Sharples is a graduate from Brenau University and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance Studies and a Concentration in Dance. Her additional training includes The Georgia Ballet in Marietta, GA and Steps of Faith in Cartersville, GA. Sara has participated in various summer dance intensives that include Ballet Magnificat and Steps on Broadway: NYC Summer Intensive. At Brenau, she has had the privilege to work with and performed works by various guest artists such as Charlotte Boye Christensen, Kristy Nilsson, Jody Sperling, and Kassandra Taylor Newberry. She danced as a company member for The Gainesville Ballet Company where she danced solo roles in productions including "The Nutcracker," "Into Grimms Woods," and "A Frozen Ballet." She also has performed various guest choreographers’ works by Pytron Parker, Kavin Grant, Peter Swan, Martha Goodman, Armando Luna, Stevan Novakovich, and Kassandra Taylor Newberry.
In addition to performing dance works, Sara has had opportunities to work in film and was hired as an extra for the movie, “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Show,” as well as being hired to perform onstage with Weird Al Yankovic during his Atlanta performances. Her most recent opportunities include touring with The Utah Ballroom Dance Company, dancing and acting for "A Christmas Carol Reimagined," performing with modern dance company Cherish Dance, and performing with Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts where she danced theatrical roles such as Captain Hook in "Peter Pan," and the Stepmother in "Cinderella." She is the producer and choreographer for "Amethyst Bloom," a contemporary showcase performed in Atlanta and Murphy, North Carolina. Sara continues to pursue a career in dance performance.
Sara has been teaching dance since 2019 and teaches a variety of different styles to students of all ages in multiple dance studios around Atlanta. She loves being a part of The North Georgia School of Ballet family.
